There are only three species of birds -- pigeons, starlings, and sparrows -- that are officially considered "pests" and that can be controlled at will, for any reason, or no reason at all. There are many other bird species that can be controlled using humand, non-chemical methods that don't harm them, during non-nesting seasons, if they are creating a nuisance or health hazard.
Like most other animals, birds can become a nuisance when they're living or nesting in places where they're not wanted, where they create a health or safety hazard, or where they're damaging or defacing property. Some examples of how birds can make nuisances of themselves include:
Although there are pesticides labeled for pest birds, they're at best a temporary solution and can only be used against the three "official" pest bird species. They also provide no long-term control whatsoever. In addition, using pesticides against birds sometimes causes them to literally drop from the skies, and there is always the chance that a non-target bird or animal could be poisoned.
At Rid-A-Critter, we don't use avidcides. We utilize non-chemical bird control methods. Depending on the location, this usually is accomplished using some or all of the following methods:
We provide safe, humane, non-chemical bird control services for both commercial and residential customers; but most of our bird-control work is done at commercial buildings. We service airports and aircraft hangars, churches, theaters, retail stores, food-processing plants, stadiums, power plants, other industrial buildings, and even radar towers. In short, if you have a problem with nuisance birds in any type of building or structure, chances are that we can help you solve your bird problem.
